Co-opportunity Market & Deli, a Member-owned Natural Food Grocer, is looking for a full time, skilled deli manager for our Santa Monica location. 

A successful candidate will have experience preferably managing a retail deli operation including recipe development and pricing, personnel management, and responsibility for meeting financial targets.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Meeting department financial goals, including sales, margin and labor.
  • Research and develop new recipes and menus.
  • Adopting and maintaining all operational systems, including production, waste and temp logs, purchase and receiving journals and Cheftec costing software.
  • Hiring, developing and training talented staff members.
  • Researching and developing new recipes.
  • Supervising day-to-day operations of the deli staff.
  • Modeling exceptional customer service skills.
  • Developing strategies to drive sales and improve profitability.
  • Ensuring food safety and cleanliness compliance throughout department.

* Qualifications

 -       Management & supervisory experience of food production or service staff

-        Some experience cooking for restaurant, food service caterer or deli

-        Familiarity with nutrition and natural foods preferred, but not required

-        Experience with menu planning

-        Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

-        Ability to clearly explain procedures and processes

-        Attention to detail & organizational skills

-        Demonstrated ability to multi task

-        Ability to project an outgoing, friendly image

-        Ability to read financial statements, (or at least a firm grasp of margin pricing)

Food safety manager certification
